Rahmi Koç Müzesi is one of Istanbul's most famous museums, located in the suburb of Haskowi, on the banks of Golden Horn Bay, founded by renowned businessman and industry architect Rahmi Koog. The idea was inspired by his visit to the Henry Ford Museum in the states United States of America, where it was established in 1991 and opened to the public on 13 December 1994.
It is the first scientific museum to show the stages of development of transportation and communications, industrial equipment, communication tools, electrical appliances and many inventions useful to mankind. It has a unique architectural character and occupies a large area of display.
There are several sections of the museum. There is a road transport exhibition featuring racing cars, sports cars, old convertible cars, SUVs and various motorcycles. In the railway transport there is the old Istanbul tram, the 1867 Sultan carriage and several types of steam locomotives .
